Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of fintech giant Ripple likes to praise his product, namely the XRP token. But in one of the last interviews he was modest, noting that XRP will not replace the US dollar in the next 20 years. However, in his opinion, the same goes for other cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin and ether.
Brad believes that the adoption of bitcoin in retail, for example, in the chain of coffee shops Starbucks, has no real practical need. Is there a problem in using fiat? So, retail outlets are in a hurry to acquire the “Bitcoin accepted” emblem not for the convenience of users or for the love of cryptocurrencies, but to attract attention to their establishment. This is just marketing, nothing more.
The position is not popular but not devoid of rational grain. Moreover, the Winklevoss brothers also gave more than 20 years for Bitcoin “swinging”. But what will happen in 30 years? Nobody says that Bitcoin is not able to replace fiat in such a time period. Or maybe this will be XRP?
